Decenter yourself

Following on from speaking with the Glasgow School of Art Winter School, I spoke (of course over Zoom) to students at the California College of The Arts on the theme of “Decolonising Design”. I spoke about how if a designer spends the effort to decentralise themselves from the process — and especially remember that you are probably not your user — that you can build products that work for more people than say, people like myself. Once a designer can do this, they become infinitely more valuable and effective.
